In the wake of the release of his new movie Masterminds, Chad Durham (@cdurham99) and Jake Hampton (@jacobhampton26) run down their personal rankings of Jared Hess‘ five movies. Both are fans of the director, finding more in his films than perhaps others have. Jake particularly notices the pervasive sadness of Hess’ movies that hangs out right underneath the somewhat goofy exterior, especially in Napoleon Dynamite. Chad sparks to the emotion that seems to come out of nowhere sometimes at the end of the movies. Both feel like Hess can be dismissed for being overly “quirky” when, in fact, he has some interesting things to say. Check it out and comment here or on Facebook or tweet at us (@rogueauteurs).
